HOW GOD REVEALED HIMSELF

God’s inexhaustible love and wisdom is evidenced by the unique components of His divine revelation to humankind (Mouw, 2008). The disclosure of God takes various forms from the face law written in our hearts to divine presence through creation, Scripture, and Holy Spirit; it is like a tapestry of divine relationships. Jesus Christ portrays the culmination of all Divine Revelation at the top of this disclosure. In exploring these dimensions, we get to unravel those intricate threads that bind together our knowledge about God.

The Common Law Written on Heart:

Thus, God in his infinite wisdom has implanted in man an unwritten moral law—a knowledge of his existence and a sense of moral distinction. This inherent ability enables us to distinguish between good and evil, truth and falsehood thereby directing us towards an obligation to pursue what is right and true. By employing human reason we can tap into this knowledge about God and apprehend His desire for our lives to go We live out this purpose when we keep the natural law alive within us that serves as a compass leading us back toward god.

Creation as God’s Inscription:

God created the world at the beginning through His act of creation, which is a self-attestation and cause. On page one of Genesis, the Bible describes God’s creative work: “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth” (Genesis 1:1), thus revealing that fact upon which everything else rests. When God creates He leaves an everlasting mark on His work – a mark that beckons us to explore it further, for in doing so we learn more about its Maker.

The impact of sin on reason and Revelation:

Nevertheless, sin’s entry into this world has cast doubt over our ability to reason and know reality. In response to this fallen state, however, God has constantly made himself known to human beings through many acts of kindness in order that he might allow us to see reasonably well. The gravity of sin necessitated divine intervention for a return to truthfulness. However, there are ways in which God discloses Himself through these channels including works done by Him among men; His prophets; sacred writings; but most essentially it was done through flesh—Jesus Christ who is the last arbiter of all revelations.

Jesus Christ: The conclusion of Divine Revelations:

The pinnacle of God's revelation reveals its pinnacle in Jesus Christ. As Jesus Himself says, "All things have been handed over to me by my Father; and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal Him" (Matthew 11:27). The disclosure becomes clear, attainable and universal within Christ. He is the word made flesh that closes up divine-human gap thus giving insight into God’s being.

Biblical Proofs:

The scriptures claim God’s self-disclosure was never hidden from man through nature portraying, “For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely his eternal power and deity have been clearly perceived in the creation of the world” (Romans 1:19-20). Those who are willing can see this divine signature upon creation.

Moreover, Sacred writings acknowledge a broad sense of natural law even among those without direct exposure to God’s revealed law.

Similarly, the Holy Writings recognize the tremendous presence of natural law especially among those who have no direct access to God’s revealed laws. “When Gentiles, who do not have the law, do by nature things required by the law, they are a law for themselves, even though they do not have the law. They show that what the law requires is written on their hearts” (Romans 2:14-15). It shows conclusively that God’s moral inscription applies to all humans without discrimination.
